Marie Long

Founder and Principal

Marie Long is a seasoned leader with over 30 years of experience protecting New Zealand's natural beauty. Throughout her career she's tackled complex challenges and driven positive change for the environment.

Her skills vary from establishing and leading integrated work areas in conservation (Department of Conservation). This includes regulatory functions, marine protection, and large operational activities (pest control, asset management, delivery functions).

Recognising the importance of strong partnerships, Marie fosters collaboration between  various stakeholders. She has worked with investment partners, conservation organizations, and indigenous groups (Treaty Partners) to develop effective strategies for tackling biodiversity loss.

Marie's leadership extends beyond policy. She directly oversaw critical programs like "Jobs for Nature" – a $500 million initiative aimed at environmental restoration. She ensured the program's financial sustainability while delivering tangible results.

After serving as Deputy Director-General of National Operations & Regulatory Services at DOC Marie is now pursuing her passion for New Zealand’s conservation efforts both in the public, private and education sectors.
